Debt Free America
Doing Your Part
Looking for a debt free America? Well, it might take awhile to find it. Check out the following stats to see why:
- The total balance of all U.S. credit cards stands at $665 billion
- The average American household carries over $9,300 in credit card debt
- According to the American Bankers Association, 4.81% of all accounts are past due by 30 days or more
As you can see, getting America to become debt free is no small feat. To achieve a debt free America, Americans need to be educated about debt. Most people who want us to be a debt free America don't even know that there are at least five different debt relief programs, most of which can get Americans out of debt in five years. Wouldn't it be cool if all Americans enrolled in debt free plans now? Then in five years or less, we could all be living in a debt free America!
Unfortunately, that's not likely to happen. It will probably have to happen one American at a time. The good news is that it wasn't that long ago that the total balance of all U.S. credit cards was over $800 billion. Not only that, but the average American household credit card balance was over $12,000. So, we are headed toward a debt free America. But it's not going to happen today.
